Clevelands Country House is a restored Victorian country house dating from the 1870s, offering generous space and a relaxed setting for multi-generational family holidays, group stays and shared celebrations on the Isle of Wight. The house is designed for spending time together, with a spacious living area for relaxed evenings and a country kitchen suited to sociable meal preparation. The layout works well for larger groups, while still providing quieter corners to unwind. For added flexibility, two one-bedroom apartments within the grounds can be arranged separately, ideal for grandparents, adult children or guests who value extra privacy while staying close. Open year-round, Clevelands suits all seasons, from summer dining on the terrace and coastal walks to quieter winter breaks and festive Christmas or New Year stays. Interiors are thoughtfully furnished for comfort rather than formality. As a historic Victorian home, the house has character and a few quirks, which are shared in our Home Truths so guests can book with confidence.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this house! The home is equipped with all the necessary amenities, including modern appliances, and it was warm and incredibly comfortable. The spacious rooms made our stay even more enjoyable, providing plenty of space to relax. The location is perfect—close to all the major attractions, which made exploring the area so convenient. Maria was incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready to assist and ensure we had everything we needed. Her hospitality truly made us feel at home. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cosy, convenient, and enjoyable stay.

Home truths
Clevelands is a Victorian country house with character, history and a few quirks typical of a property of its age. We believe in setting clear expectations so your stay matches what you anticipate. Rural Access The house is accessed via a single-track, unmade country lane. Please drive slowly and carefully. If a vehicle approaches from the opposite direction, one driver will need to reverse to a passing point. Wildlife is common ( foxes & badgers), particularly at dusk and after dark, so please proceed with care. Other Properties on Site There are two additional holiday rentals within the grounds, each with its own separate entrance and private space. The driveway, lawn and laundry room are shared areas. Laundry Room The laundry room sits beneath guest accommodation and may only be used between 09:00 and 18:00 to avoid disturbance. Family Suite Layout Bedrooms 4 and 5 form a family suite and share one shower room/WC. Bedroom 5 is accessed via Bedroom 4, making it most suitable for families rather than unrelated adults. Dining Room The dining room is windowless and has no natural daylight. It has been styled with artwork and considered lighting to create a warm atmosphere — a quirk of the original Victorian layout. A Period Property With solid stone walls, the house “breathes” and does not function like a modern new-build. You may occasionally see the odd spider or countryside insect — this is normal in a rural setting and not a reflection of cleanliness. Clevelands is carefully maintained and professionally prepared, but it is a heritage home with charm rather than a clinically sterile contemporary property.
